and as a commenter upthread stated, i also believe the msm has totally missed how huge this is.  they are too busy kissing bush's ass...still.

They keep engaging in this politispeak. I think it was Andrea Mitchell that said on Chris Matthews' joke show that the president needs to be more "forthcoming" about the number of people whose information this program has gained access to. Just say the president needs to 'stop lying.'

Blah, blah, blah. Pretend that was something profound and that I said it.

I don't know that the MSM is kissing Chimpy's ass right now. I think maybe --- maybe --- they are busy sharpening their teeth so they can chew his ass off.

The media, especially the WH press corps, has been lied to and manipulated repeatedly. Besides never uttering a believable word, remember Scottie's campaign in "journalistic ethics" to get Newsweek to apologize for their Gitmo/Koran story? That was a PR effort that would have made even Herman Goering blush.

Scottie won that battle, but Terry Moran, et. al. have been up his ass ever since then. I think it's safe to say they won't let this one go. And with Abramoff tipping, there's going to be blood in the water, so the outrage meter may be sufficiently high enough that not even Chimpy's shock troops can knock it down.

Then again, the "fair and balanced" effect can never be underestimated either. Not wanting to offend anyone, their attempts at "balance" mean giving even the indefensible a defense. "And now let's talk to Mr. Jeffrey Dahmer, whose comments we will not judge or analyze because to us that would not be balanced!"
