    I wouldn't consider any info gathered as blackmail, just simply reporting -- with all of it out in the open. (The power of blackmail is in the withholding of the info.)

    If this software truly was developed from an off-the-shelf produt, then the same tools being used to monitor 'suspicious' citizens can certainly be used to monitor suspicious politicians and their friends.

    (And perhaps it might spark some renewed interest in privacy rights and protections from an overbearing government.)
