    And, I give a lot of credit and admiration for the younger generation coming up. They as a rule are much less prejudiced, less closed-minded, and they  understand we are all in this together, as opposed to most (many) of their fathers.

      The characterizing of a generation as being "this, that or the other" is something that has been going on for at least as long there has been written history, and, I suspect, as long as there have been human beings capable of speech.
      I think the whole construct is not only tiresome but bogus as well. Older conservatives looking at youth as being the source of all societies ills and older Liberals looking on them as its best hope. (I confess I'm solidly with you in the latter 'camp', as to my way of thinking the only alternative would be to despair. )
      Then you have among youth, the progressives who believe anyone above a certain age to be hopelessly benighted, and the less common but just as full of themselves the Conservatives, who (essentially acting as traitors to their 'Class') see only "received wisdom" as being of any value.
      The more things change... etc. etc.
