      ... I think that fully-federally-funded daycare is a radical feminist idea.

      I also think it's a good idea. Although the constitutionality would be open to some question.

      It's clearly very radical. Creating a new entitlement, which obliges society to provide professional care for preschool-age children would be a huge leap forward in our culture. Radical isn't necessarily bad. Some things need to be changed, radically.

      It's a feminist idea because it is driven almost entirely by the objective of having a society in which women can have children and have jobs. This is a feminist objective. That doesn't make it a bad objective. If women would just stay home, they wouldn't need daycare. Yes, yes, there are the single moms, but that's a whole 'nother story. Mostly in the sense that, if it were only about single moms, there would be no political traction for such a policy. Not that there's much traction as it is.
