  •  Does anyone really think... (none)
at this time, this group (mostly DINOs) will vote to maintain a filibuster? The case against Alito has fallen apart and the rethugs have been effective. Dems have been pathetic in creating an opposition (although I commend some of them, notably Leahy, Feingold and Kohl). But look, folks this is about as important as it gets, and we're gonna see nothing but a high negative vote (possibly 30-35 dems against). Hope I'm wrong but I'm just so distraught right now. And unhappy with dem leaders who can't seem to coordinate a damn thing.
    •  Scalito has done it (none)
Scalito has avoided answering any questions, he'll get on with the help of the DINOs.  Who knows how Joe will vote, but he won't tip the scales.
      •  Dodging questions isn't a qualification (none)
... for sitting on the SCOTUS. It might be a great skill for anyone considering becoming a career pickpocket, though.
        .

If the wingnut cause is just, why all the weaseling? Anyone? Bueller? scAlito?

        •  Unfortunately this committee meeting (none)
has nothing to do with sitting on the SCOTUS.  This committee doesn't vet the candidate's credentials...it's designed to air any dirty laundry that might come out at the last minute and see if the voting bloc for the candidate can hold together.

Look, this guy can read, he doesn't druell, he didn't serve in the German Army, and he's breathing.  By Senate standards, if he has 51 votes, he's qualified for the Supreme Court.  He could be wearing white robes and a hood under his SCOTUS duds, but that really doesn't count here.  Whoever has the votes gets the goods.  These folks have the votes.

This committee only comes into play, if Mr. Alito flames out ala Bork.  It almost happened to Thomas, but these are the rarities.  Alito is not Thomas as far as his political skills are concerned, so don't expect a judicial suicide here.

I kinda like Howard Dean, it's those wild eye crazies that came with him I wonder about!
