I hold myself accountable. However, I don't think my base salary should be affected in any way. Or maybe I shouldn't have to pay my lawyer or doctor if I don't get the results I wanted.

The state of Florida will give me a $500 bonus if 75% of my students show a learning gain. This is the first year that they have done this. They give a big bonus if the school raises its score one letter grade.

I don't have time to elaborate, but NCLB and all the other education "initiatives" have done nothing but dumbed down America. I have to "modify" my curriculum in order to drill and kill basic math skills. Even the high performing kids are affected. We wouldn't want them to score a 96% when drilling and killing might raise their scores to 97%, would we? If my kids were still in school, I'd put them in a private school.

I'm ready to quit. I just got a professional development newsletter from my district. There wasn't one article about education. It was all about the FCAT test .... every single page.
