    Vote Democratic

Are we still routinely torturing helpless prisoners, and if so, does it feel right that we as American citizens are not outraged by the practice? -Al Gore

    •  We're fighting for FREEDOM (4.00)
Good in Iraq - Bad in the US

I still think the Founding Father's and TR quotes are great but our electorate is too stupid to know who's being quoted wor what the quotes mean.

      Love this one -

"If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy."   - James Madison

      •  I heard a panel of lawyers/judges (none)
speaking at the SF Commonwealth Club on the Alito nomination, and one of them said that 56% of Americans cannot even name one Supreme Court justice. I imagine that a huge chunk of those don't even know what the SC is or how it affects them. I know that an astounding number of American adults are so illiterate that they can't balance their own check books or properly fill out the EZ IRS forms. They pay H&R Block to get a refund, often giving up the whole refund to greedy accountants.

Now let's think up some winning slogans for those people, because fear works best on them. Many of them don't vote, of course, but some do.

"That story is not worth the paper it's rotten on"--Dorothy Parker
