  •  hi (4.00)
I'm fairly new around here, and I'm hoping I don't end up with hoofprints and porcupine quills all over my literary hide here by piping up...

I started by posting a diary series (1, 2,3, 4) which was personal... about the effects of war on people's lives, particularly because of PTSD.  My entire family was devastated by it, and then I lived through it.

But I haven't seen much "personal work" since.  Is it verbotten?

Most people emphasize daily or other news issues, and I've gotten into that instead.  Let me know if more "personal" diaries (similar to those above) are appropriate for DKos.

I can't find a clear "mission statement" for DKos.

    •  good stuff (4.00)
personal reflections, polemics, electioneering analysis, humor, stock market news, world news roundups, it's all good.

don't be discouraged by the lack of response, because your diary series looks well-written and thoughtful.  we'd all like to see more of that content around here.

unfortunately the sad truth is that there are simply so many diaries out there that lots of good content goes unnoticed.  (although hopefully more people are reading it than comment or recommend.)

and unfortunately better does not mean more popular, sadly even in a community as intelligent as this.  back during 2004 primary daze, all you had to do to get on the reco list and 185 comments was put "dean" or "clark" in the title, and get all partisan for one or the other.  someone else could be posting the next declaration of friggin' independence and it'd just scroll down the list with only one comment.
