i agree with Johnnygun. As you may or may not know - those type of comments are dismissed here at DailyKos by usual democrat establishment.

You see, Democrats like to blame the Green party and real progressives for the fact they can't win elections or put up even a glimmer of a fight against the Bush adminstration. I still don't understand how its teh fault of the green party that the dems can't carry ohio or florids.

As for Alito: How can you expect a party that has members who support government control of women's bodies, to block a pro-governmental control of women's bodies supremem court nominee?

Nonetheless I called my "democratic" senators and urged friends to do so to support the filibuster. I can't be accused of being apathetic.

As for comments about seeing a democratic "majority" in your lifetime (so why bother supporting parties that may actually represent your views), that's the kind of unimaginative, defeatist attitude that has allowed the American political system to turn into a 2 party no choice joke.

I believe that giving up on your party is more defeatist than trying to change its platform and goals. If you don't like the status quo of the Democratic party, you have the choice of being active (and not apathetic, as you say) and striving to make it a party that serves your point of view. Or going to a "third" party, if you think that will get you anywhere. It seems to me that Ross Perot and Ralph Nader have shown that third parties are destined to be speed bumps in the political reality we live in.
Sorry if this is veering off-topic. And by all means, whatever your gripe with the Dems, let's support the few representatives we have that show some spine. Filibuster!

Please, if it's not to late, make it a cheeseburger
