    Dear Senator Wyden,

I very much want to thank you for being willing to vote no on a cloture motion in the debate on Judge Alito's confirmation.

Their are a multitude of reasons to oppose his confirmation, even at the risk of Majority Leader Frist's threat of the "nuclear option."

Judge Alito appears constitutionally incapable (pun intended) of supporting the individual over the corporation or the government. I remember during the committee hearings that a Republican Senator trotted out eight cases where Judge Alito had. If that's the best they could find after a decade and a half of service on the appellate court bench then it proves, rather than disproves, this point.

Furthermore, Judge Alito's willingness to expand on the powers of the Executive Branch in an unprecedented manner further disqualify him for the position. The Unitary Executive is nothing more than a nice canard for capsizing the balance of powers we've long recognized in the ship of state.

The other day, a friend of mine told me that she had taken an online quiz that showed she preferred Richard Nixon as President to George W. Bush. I was saddened to reply that I didn't need to take a quiz to know this. This President is not the man to endow with these expansive prerogatives.

Thank you again, Senator. You can be sure of my support in your future endeavors.

    Kindest Regards,
