  •  I called four Senators' offices, and... (none)
...the message I got was that their "mail boxes are full. Goodbye."

What is that? There's no more important time to reach Senators in perhaps the past 145 years, and all we get is a "goodbye."

    Okay.

My guess is that, if the Dem Senators were wise, they'd vote against cloture (Remember, it's the Repubs that have to accumulate 60 votes, not the Dems who have to come up with 41. There's a difference.) because they have to follow the money and the support. If they lay down for Bush, and this time it will be the final rape, they will lose a vast amount of supporters' energy and money. If this happens, the Democratic Party is finished.

The Dems need grassroots movement. This is what the filibuster is all about. It's about the Senators responding to a grassroots uprising that, if supported, will be pivotal in pushing the Dems into a majority position in one or both Houses of Congress. If they make an ill-fated calculation to lay down for fascism, they seal their own fate.

Regrettably, most of our "opposition" Senators (with a few notable exceptions) are willing to lay down and surrender to the Boy King.  If they are not willing to take meaningful steps to try and strip him from his imagined Commander - in Chief- powers directly, you can hardly expect them to put huge political energy into stopping a judge who will not act to check those powers.
