    From the same NYT article:
    "This is more than a science issue, it is a religious issue. And I would hate to think that young people would only be getting one-half of this debate from NASA. That would mean we had failed to properly educate the very people who rely on us for factual information the most."

    There are so many things wrong with Mr. Deutsch's thinking I'm boggled. It's NASA's job to teach religion? Religion is fact? Which religion is fact? If religion is scientific fact than NASA is withholding some interesting data. And wasn't there something about separation of church and state in some government thingy, somewhere?

      and read the part about exactly what time the sun comes up tomorrow, or where it describes the velocity needed to escape Earth orbit, or how to create a vaccine for for polio....then I'd like all the devout biblical literalists to stop using their cell phones, computers, cars, medicines, and all electrical appliances since they all operate only in "theory".
