I hope he looks the Attorney General in the eye and reminds him that we're not "The land of the free and the home of the timid."

The framing is everything here. Let's hope the Democrats are fully prepared knock down the strawman arguments that Gonzalez will almost certainly attempt to construct in an effort to distract attention from the true issues at hand.

Here's another question I have been dying for someone to ask Gonzalez. If this NSA program is only targeting those Americans with known ties to terrorist organizations, then why don't we simply go and arrest them?

Most importantly, our side has to scream from the top of the mountain that this is not a choice between civil liberties and national security. We are capable of doing both. We can have both. And we must have both if we believe in America.

This man is not the Attorney General of George W. Bush. He is not the Attorney General of the Republican Party. He is not the Attorney General of the Neocon Movement.

He is the Attorney General of the United States of America. And it's about time he started acting like it.
