  •  Minnesota (none)
is a very progressive state but they are also very anti-abortion as well. That has always been the case and why it is an anomaly in Democratic circles. They have voted for a Democratic president since 1972 but would chuck abortion rights in a minute.  I don't agree with it, I am just telling you how it is.

    •  Yeah, I know (none)
I'm Minnesota born and raised.  I think the anti-abortion views stem from a large church going population in the outstate areas (that's anything away from Mpls/St Paul for the non Minnesotans).  A bar and a church on every block in the small towns.

    •  I recall a young woman (none)
from MN out here on the west coast going back home after the election saying she needed to start a progressive movement in her home state.  It sounds like the citizens have a lot of common sense about fairness.  If I were the Democrats in that state I would keep the pressure on for open access to birth control, women's health issues and taking care of the kids who are born.  That way it is easier to accept "rare and legal" abortion as necessary.  Down south the venemous attacks on women as being loose and deserving of their fate getting pregnant cuts off all civil conversation.
