    Which is what I was suggesting. That it would make sense if they were taking out one of their best sources of intell about what was REALLY going on in Iran, so there wouldn't be any competition for the shit coming from these guys.

    They did a similar thing in Iraq, when they took out one of Plame's colleagues, who had evidence that Iran had no nuclear program. They didn't take out a whole network with "Jerry," but they did make sure the folks in CPD who could refute the BS they were peddling weren't able to do so.

      The various articles I've read on the group as of late paints a fairly bleak picture as far as their support within Iran is concerned. They're often ridiculed by the moderate factions and seem to be considered more of a passe personality cult than a credible revolutionary group. Their press conferences and such have little internal weight as is and likely wouldn't have a real effect unless conditions within the country shift radically. Then,  they could comprise a wider coalition of opposition.

      But if they're the only opposition group the neocons are relying on, I can't see them being terribly useful outside of minor isolated incidents to create chaos on the ground. At least, as things currently stand.
