    as a nurse, both in the Army during Vietnam and in various civilian ICU settings and hospitals, I can tell you that it wasn't THAT unusual to have horribly injured people bounce back -though most not without serious continuing problems- and live and even prosper. The guy who was torn in half from his hips down in a wheat thresher and never lost consciousness comes to mind. The brutalized nurse who was raped beaten and left for dead and not found for 4 days in a brutal Texas summer. The MVA's, the GSW's the SW's....

    A few #6 or #8 bird shot at 9 or 10 meters is NOT A BIG DEAL if it doesn't hit an eye or a major blood vessel.

    It ain't pleasant. It ain't a joke. But it's not gonna be life-threatening unless someone is lying and he was much closer to the weapon than previously indicated.
