This is my fault... I have been here for three months and have yet to post my "know your roles" post.  I think many of us can use a good deal of information about the primary role of the different D.C. organizations.

    Basically:

    1.) DCCC - House Races
    2.) DSCC - Senate Races
3.) DNC - Building organization in the 50 States

    Tim

People get angry at the DCCC... and take it out on the DNC.

Or worse, mistake the DNC for the DLC.' Oy gevalt!

      Don't mourn: organize.

yeah, the DNC is busy leasing empty store fronts in county seats for the local Democrats and purchasing non candidate specific bumper stickers and buttons ... come on!

One example of how the DNC uses its money:

      "By Michael D. Shear
      Washington Post Staff Writer
      Tuesday, January 11, 2005; Page B01

RICHMOND, Jan. 10 -- Democratic National Committee Chairman Terrence R. McAuliffe plans to announce Tuesday that the party intends to invest $5 million in Lt. Gov. Timothy M. Kaine's bid to become Virginia governor, Democratic sources said.

State party officials said the contribution will represent the largest amount the DNC has ever given to a Virginia candidate for governor. Four years ago, the national Democrats gave then-candidate Mark R. Warner and the state party $1.27 million. The DNC did not give any money to the party's 1997 candidate for Virginia governor, Donald S. Beyer."

      ... now watch this drive.
