You mean we didn't get the whole story?  What a surprise.

was it here or another site that a doctor who's worked on a lot of shotgun blast injuries reported yesterday or on Sunday that birdshot pellets tend to migrate inside veins and as a result often cause extremely serious problems within a few days.

Meanwhile, today a doctor was trotted forth to tell an afternoon paper in TX that he's the first guy to treat Whittington, and he wanted to send him home because the wounds were so superficial. Here's a link. The whole hospitalization thingee was just a case of over-reaction, you see.

        •  No, it's our fault actually. (none)
By pestering the poor Vice President, and making public information about the trajectories of his alleged 'pellets', we've only encouraged them to migrate further. We've given them aid and comfort.

        •  whittington: (none)
he's been depressed for along time and ran into the shot.  chris matthews said cheney was an excellent shot.  obviously whittington was attempting suicide.  cheney should be commended for staying cool.  i hope this doesn't affect his highly commendable job performance.  poor cheney.

      •  Dr AmberJane wrote the diary (4.00)
An informative diary at that from a licensed facial cosmetic surgeon...and then she got umpteen flaming posts comparing her to Bill Frist for daring to offer a medical analysis without examining Whittington from a bunch of (im sure well meaning) folks who doubt the ability of doctors to give helpful information through hypotheticals, etc. and draw upon the doctors years training and clinical experience to do so. I hope she wasn't too put off by the comments to post an updated diary. I thought it cool that this blog had qualified expert opinions on a breaking medical story though I was extremely disspointed that she was called out as being Fristlike for doing it. Please lurking surgeons including AmberJane post your thoughts- some of us really want to know what you a thinking about likely course of treatment/prognosis from what is now known. What does a minor heart attack mean?
        •  yeah, the doctor had a very good diary. (none)
but hell there are some troll types that want to argue about joementum at times as well. i also remember some that thought we should be nice about kato and that despictable book she wrote.

    •  All Atypical (none)
"Not a typical heart attack."  Not a typical Vice President either.
