  •  nope, actual copy of the report (none)
texas parks and wildlife report.  on the front page of cnn.  clear sunny skies and no alcohol or drugs.
    •  Based on an interview the following morning... (4.00)
      Not an in-depth investgation.
    •  As far as I can tell (4.00)
That report is based off of the interviews that Cheney deigned to grant to the police the day after the incident, of which I have to assume that the report reflects information based solely on the information given from the participants.

There was no law enforcement at the scene, and no law enforcement spoke to Cheney or anybody else the night of the incident.  So the fact that the report states there was no alcohol means very little, except for the fact that the police are willing to trust Cheney more than I am.

I think the suspicion that this quote raises, along with the highly unusual antics following the incident, is cause for further investigation.

Not that I'm biased or anything....

According to the Washington Post, a sheriff's deputy DID come to the ranch sometime that evening, but was turned away.

        •  The comments in the link... (none)
... suggest that the reason he was turned away and no formal investigation took place until the next day was in order to give Cheney a night to sleep of the alcohol in his blood.

          •  Now that would be an issue, wouldn't it? (none)
It does make you wonder.  WHY DID they turn away the sheriff on Saturday night?

No ordinary citizen could ever do that.

The simple explanation is this >>>    THE LAW DOES NOT APPLY TO THE VICE PRESIDENT.

        •  I should clarify (none)
that the link I posted is no longer valid, as they moved their Timeline to a seperate webpage.  The section of the Timeline that mentions this is as follows:

Saturday evening: Members of the hunting party return to the Armstrong Ranch, where they make calls to check on Whittington's condition and then have dinner. According to Katharine Armstrong, no one suggested publicly releasing the news. At least one sheriff's deputy shows up at the ranch but is turned away. Deputies are not aware of the earlier conversation between the Secret Service and the sheriff.

Katherine Armstrong is a past Chairman of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission. Appointed by Gov. Bush.

Check the Austin paper, I'm lousy at links. Fairly certain I heard it on "Ed Schults" today too.
