    Given that you're likely right about the loyalty of the military to our Constitution, and given that that very loyalty will make them hesitant to step in at any point, and given that the erosion of citizen liberties and government balance of power is  gradual, at what point would you expect the military to recognize it has to step in?

    Also, how will the military cope with its culpability in torture, unlawful detention, and rendition? The majority of top military commanders — nice guys that most of them are, truly — could be tried and convicted for crimes against humanity at this point. So how will they see themselves as on the side of the people and Constitution, rather than being necessarily joined to the Bush-Cheney cabal for their own health?
