  •  the next VP? (none)
Bush would never appoint McCain to replace Cheney. There's too much ill will between the two.

He certainly won't appoint someone anywhere close to centrist. My guess is Rick Santorum, since it's obvious the guy is going to lose his office in November.

    •  Santorum? YARK! (none)
Here's to hoping you are wrong wrong wrong!

      •   Santorum is unlikely, IMO, He's on his way down. (none)
He's embarrassed himself and the party with such incompetence and bumbling after his stupid book comments.

Here in PA he is lagging Casey, by a steady 12 to 14 percent.

A leading indicator that he is yesterdays news, toast.

He's not intelligence nor politically savay to pull it off.

And remember the old industrial heartland from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, even down to West Virginia is sort of a distinct demographic opinion/value zone crucial to the last two and next two presidential elections.

Santorum being rejected so strongly in his own state as an incumbent Senator is a significant rejection.

McCain, Allen, or conceivable even Guiliani as a long shot all seem more plausible than Santorum IMO.  Don't you think?
