For once I actually agree with you on something. This is perhaps the most well-reasoned and well-balanced post that I've ever seen from you on this board.

I don't like this plan. When I first read about it I thought I was reading the Onion. Then I realized that it was the Washington Post. I couldn't seriously believe how this could actually happen.

What are these people thinking? Why on earth are we giving responsibility of our ports to the UAE?

      •  am i in a parallel universe or something? (none)
Pardon me, but have I stumbled into an alternate universe of some sort? Not only are Maryscott and jiacinto are in total agreement, but even wingnut Governor Bob Ehrlich is publicly saying that the UAE contract is a bad idea! What's happening?
        •  More like a convergence (4.00)
Leftists like Maryscott are upset about the turning over of port operations to corporations beyond the US' control. Conservatives like Bob Ehrlich are annoyed by the fact that it's the UAE that's involved; they're deeply invested in an anti-Arab, anti-Islamic mindset that is offended by the deal. jiacinto is right-leaning, so he tends to have the same line of thinking as someone like Ehrlich.

It's like leftists and Pat Buchanan agreeing the Iraq War was wrong, or Al Gore and Bob Barr agreeing that Bush went too far with the NSA stuff. It's a convergence, not a sign of shared values or worldviews.

"Bush has seriously undermined his credibility with this insane move. Can he be trusted to prosecute this war? Ain't sure no more."

"Bush&Company are asleep at the wheel on this one. This is a no brainer. That is, unless you're a member of the contingent of Bush sycophant bedwetters, who believe there is nothing wrong with having 'the religion of peace' managing six of the biggest US ports of entry located around the homeland."

"His credibility was already worthless to many of us for a long time. Face it folks, He is NOT a conservative and it appears to me to have a goal of totally removing any borders we have. I regret my four vote for him more than I have ever regreted any vote before."

"Bush is the stupidest President to ever occupy the WH."

          Uh oh, trouble in freepland.
