  •  It does (4.00)
    and it's scary.

But the number one reason I just can't buy it?  These morons can't do ANYTHING competently, let alone that wide-scale a coverup.  Other option is, they really are competent, and they're just damn good actors -- which I also don't buy.  They'd have to be smarter than they are to do that.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. - Benjamin Franklin

    •  Their real achievement (4.00)
is to make you think that way. That accomplished, they can get away with anything.

These guys are sociopaths preying on common decency to not dare call them out for what they really are.

The mechanisms they rely on is sowing so much confusion that noone are able to keep up with their antics, let alone have them answer for it.

Just imagine that Bush had done everything else he's done, but had also (1) secured our ports, chemical factories, and other high-value targets, and (2) responded to Katrina with determination, coordination, and ability. He'd be virtually worshipped as Emperor — not by the maybe 20% of people who do that already (the other half of his support is just habitual Republicans), but by 70 or 80% of the country.

So he hasn't even competently pursed his own goals. There's nothing clever about that at all.
