So what do you think about the comment I replied to, was this comment of his a courteous, well thought out criticism?

I'm sure you would taste delicious
With a little barbecue sauce. Knock it off, hippie.

Our food choices do have a huge impact on Africa and the entire world, but this has been going on for years- Ireland was a net exporter of grain throughout the potato blight years- the Irish had to send their grain to their English landowners while they starved.

So the Bushite type scum have long oppressed the poor people and starved them.  Just imagine the economic benefit to the world of spending money on actually working for people instead of bombing them- Bush has squandered $400 billion so far in Iraq- and he'll keep going for the next three years.

Amazing how a politely worded call to action can elicit such poisonous words.  Interesting the immediate comparison to the hippy movement, I think you found a closet Republican!

Pointing out the harm done to the environment, indigenous and poor communities, and our health by our national diet and the system that produces it, to some people is equivalent to an ad hominem attack.  You criticize their meat, and you criticize them.

Oh well.  Maybe they're just acting out scenes from their unhappy childhood.

"How can you have any pudding if you don't EAT YOUR MEAT?"

At root the problem is agribusiness and over-consumption.  A diet of moderation and variety is healthiest for the body, and locally produced, processed and consumed foods are healthiest for the planet and society.

      •  Politely worded (none)
        my sweet ass.

I could go on about my long record of voting for Democrats and advocating progressive causes. Hell, ask any of my students about my tiresome liberal rants. But criticize a self-righteous veeeegan, and getting branded a closet Republican is just part of the blowback.

For the record, my childhood was idyllic and delightful. And what I object to is the hijacking of a thread about the dreadful exploitation of Africans by someone who has such a need for attention that what they eat or don't eat seems more important than millions of starving Africans. Oh, and bite me.

His zeal is only matched by your rudeness.
