    •  Hey, look over here! (4.00)
      Portgate? Over here everyone!!!
Civil War? There's no civil war!

Why deny that there's civil war? Why, to throw off the incriminating scent that leads to it's constructionsists:

Ghali Hassan of the Canadian Center for Research on Globilization

Of course, the ongoing Occupation is justified not only "to spread democracy", but also as necessary to prevent "civil war". Nothing could be further from the truth. Evidence shows that the U.S. and its collaborators are behind every step leading to violence and "civil war". "[W]e have widespread evidence that the outside forces are attempting to instigate a civil war here and Iraqis are conscious of that and have made determined effort not to respond to it", said Dr. Saad Jawad, a political scientist at Baghdad University.

      •  Excellent article (none)
Thank you for the link.  I will be posting a diary to SmokeyMonkey.org with analysis.  Not much needed, though, huh?
      •  Difficult to Believe (none)
Do you really think Bush Co. wants a civil war in Iraq?  I know they make a lot of money off the war, but I can't believe they really want their little example of middle eastern democracy to fall fully into civil war.

This comment is ridiculous, and backed up with no mention of any facts to support it:

"Evidence shows that the U.S. and its collaborators are behind every step leading to violence and "civil war"."

Bush Co may be full of fools, but they are trying to accomplish something.  They're just terrible at it.

        •  read the article (none)
If you took the time to read the article, you'd find plenty to back up that assertion. It might sound tin-foil hatish at first, but really, think about WHO BENEFITS from this civil war.

The cynical policy of the "new world order" crowd has always been to be the last ones standing.

          •  Facts? (none)
Could you have possibly found a more biased "analysis"?  Where does he ever give a reason why the US would want a civil war in Iraq?  His only support is that a professor in Iraq said, "[W]e have widespread evidence that the outside forces are attempting to instigate a civil war here and Iraqis are conscious of that and have made determined effort not to respond to it".  Of course the quote is probably taken out of context since the professor is most likely referring to Islamist terror organizations from other Arab states when he says "outside forces", which is what most rational analyses have concluded is going on.  The US has nothing to gain by invading a stable anti-US regime and having it turn into a chaotic breeding ground for new suicide bombers.  We wanted a stable regime who could supply us with oil.
        •  The fact that you're here reading this is the (none)
first step.  It's not only possible, but judging from BushCo's past behaviors in past wars, skirmishes and coups around the world, it's most probable.

        •  We will have it. (none)
If not already, then in 6-8 months, when the Republicans draw down troops right before the midterm elections. I just saw some retired military guys on Hardball basically saying just that, it's sickening to watch.
