    I read somewhere recently that the guy who had headed up the John's Hopkins study was roughly estimating that it was now probably around 300,000.

    Iraqbodycount.com has it around 30,000, and that's obviously way too low.  They only count deaths independently reported by two western news sources.  Since almost all the western reporters have either left or bunkered up in a hotel, they obviously see and report only a fraction of the deaths.

    I think it was in the same article about the guy who ran the John's Hopkins study, it said he'd done a briefing at the Pentagon.  And the response of one of the people there was basically "we've been raining bombs on insurgents hiding behind civilians.  What did you think would happen?"

    Just the fact that Bush admits to the 30,000 number tells you pretty much that that number is way too low.
