Just a factoid to chew on:

Part of the the TIA system used Groove Networks technology, which was subsequently purchased by Microsoft.  Ray Ozzie, who started Groove, is now one of the top guys at MSFT.  Whether Groove technology, and hence MSFT, is still involved is anybody's guess.

The day they landed the TIA contract was a very interesting one.

The primary internal argument for selling to them was that it's no different than if they bought MS Word, since the software can be used by anyone*.
*there are exceptions to the "anyone"

Watching how we each struggled with the dilemma and the ease with which we each somehow managed to find ways to excuse ourselves for not leaving was a real lesson. The lure of financial security is very, very powerful.

It's part of the reason I chose the sig I did - I have averted my gaze.

Beware the everyday brutality of the averted gaze.
