  •  Just wrote my senators and representative (none)
asking that they look into this and put a stop to it.  Here's my letter.  Copy and email at will:

I am writing to you today because I just learned that our Marines fighting overseas are having their web access censored, forbidding them to access sites that criticize the Bush Administration.

This is, of course, outrageous and unAmerican.  Our soldiers are tough enough to face the dangers of war and insurgency, and they are surely mentally tough enough to interpret different points of view.  It is inexcusable to infantilize our military in this way.

Please look into this matter and do everything you can to end this insulting practice.

    Thank you,
    (MadLibrarian's Real Name)

Your Senator will probably write you back to let you know that the computers in the Senate offices that can access government intranets use the same filtering software(websense) as the Marines do.

Great letter. I'll be writing my representatives too.

What object is served by this circle of misery and violence and fear? It must tend to some end, or else our universe is ruled by chance, which is unthinkable.
