Wow. You sure packed a lot of "heavy duty" questions and issues in that post of yours. First, if it were me, I would decide how I felt about Diane Farrell according to how she stacked up against Chris Shays, not how she feels about Joe Lieberman. Second, I don't think her saying they've "agreed to disagree" regarding their positions on the invasion of Iraq means she's SUPPORTING him. Party members have to work with each other even when they don't agree with each other. That's the main problem with Joe Lieberman, he has a reluctance to do that.

Farrell, former first selectwoman of Westport, said that although Lieberman's Iraq position may be unpopular with many Fairfield County Democrats, she and the longtime senator have agreed on many other issues, and her endorsement was justified.

"Joe is a longtime friend and he has endorsed me and my campaign in the past," Farrell said in a telephone interview last week. "We'll have to agree to disagree on the war . . . but we agree on so many other issues" such as women's privacy rights, the Family Leave Act and fair wages.

Here's what a friend of mine from Ct. said on another Blog.
The Ct. Democratic party made all of the State Dems show up for a show of solidarity with Lieberman ! They are feeling threatened! God forbid, we might get a Liberal Democrat, instead of one straddling the Center, or even leaning over into the Right, like Lieberman!

They would rather have Lieberman, than a maverick they cannot control and who would win the hearts back of true liberals. He is anti war, prochoice, a true Liberal.

So maybe there is some Party pressure.
