  •  sounds like this election cycle (none)
is going to be anti-abortion, like last time it was "definition of a marriage".

These fuckers can't win on real issues.  They have to resort to this shit to confuse voters...well I'd really like to have a job and health insurance but those darn gays wanna get married and them damn sluts wanna kill their babies...guess i'd better sacrifice my own good for the good of marriage and fetuses.

Mississippi is the next to fall, then all the other southern states will hurry to follow suit, and Idaho, and Utah, and Kansas, and Nebraska.

    •  abortion will be a key issue (none)
but the right screwed it up big time with the Patriot Act and domestic spying.  Can you imagine what people will think about when in the middle of October reports start coming out with names of citizens that the US has been spying on?  I don't think there is a republican running for re-election against a challenger that is confident of getting re-elected.  NOBODY....This election is the dems to screw up....just like we said in 2004.

      •  i agree (4.00)
Congress is ours for the taking---on real issues, including domestic spying.

That is not the way it works in christian red states.  States like SD and ID and AL etc don't care about NOLA or Katrina, they don't care about budget deficits or the environment.  They care about what their preachers tell them to care about.  They care about god in school, god in government. They care about anti-abortion legislation.  They care about the "sanctity of marriage".  They may be pissed at Bush over a few things but red states know that if you put stupid shit on the ballot like abortion or gay marriage, the christianeers will flock to the polls to ensure that their "way of life" is protected.

      •  aren't there (none)
other key issues to focus on than a women's right to choose, and the gay population.  This country or some sick sick people have nothing else to think about.  How about the slime that is permeating this country? They are like a cancer spreading throughout this country. Truly sickening.
    •  I aggree (4.00)
      with this exception:

This banning of abortion on SD is going to freak out the moderate conservatives and the free-thinking independents that they will need to win in 06.

They took the bait, and this radical move is going to send shivers down every thinking mind in America.

      •  ONLY if we make it an issue (4.00)
If we soft pedal this shit like:

Well...I am personally against abortion and yada, yada, yada.

Then where exactly is the difference?

As Armando said - it's time for the politics of differentiation.

And IF we play it right, this could be the gift that keeps giving.

        We'll see.

    •  Not KS (none)
Dem governor, and actually a bizarre history of supporting women's rights.  Weird, I know.
