  •  I don't think anyone believed (0+ / 0-)
    the Religious Right wasn't serious about it.  I do think, however, that many people thought the secular part of the party would resist banning abortion for cynical political reasons.  

    I think the Republicans have a tiger by the tail in the Religious Right.  Positions like this (overturning Roe v Wade, SD's abortion ban) are losers for the party.  But now they are stuck with supporting a radical wing of the party, and it can't be a lot of fun for them.
