  •  The irony (6+ / 0-)

of a successful censure would be that a president who deserved censure got impeached, while a president who deserved impeachment got censured. But for wingnuts who put party over country, even that is unreasonable. Hell - anything that clouds their idol worship of GOP hierarchy is by definition, unreasonable in their eyes.

    •  That Is The Main Idea Of The Diary (7+ / 0-)

It is time to stop letting the Republicans define what is reasonable. Their idea of reasonable is anything that supports their agenda, no matter how extreme or out of the mainstream it is. By every Repulican repeating their insane positions as what all real Americans believe, they make their insanity seem to be reasonable.

but what is even more maddening is the difference in how the 2 parties deal with their 'extremes'. When O'Lielly suggests al qaeda should blow up San Francisco, repubs just ignore it or talk right past it. (assuming anyone even asks them about it) When a liberal says something off the beaten path, Dems trip all over themselves to be the first to condemn it. That's got to stop.

When anyone speaks up against the myriad of crimes or incompetences propagated by Republican officials, the GOP hits the media with a unified front, discrediting the critic and the critique.

When anyone speaks up against a Democrat who dares to stick his or her neck out, other Democrats pile on, urging the risk taker to apologize, recant, or mitigate their statement or action with a series of qualifying statements or actions.

The President has committed a crime.  Period.  The Senate must censure that criminal act and the criminal, or be complicit.

If Democrats simply unify behind that simple message, the Republicans will be forced to try and justify the crimes if they choose to disagree with the Democratic argument.

I agree with Armando.  There is no political danger in taking this action in the Senate.  In fact, it is their job to censure this President.

The Senate confirms their irrelevancy in our governmental system (nail their own coffin shut, in fact) if they condone this President's crimes any longer.
