    Reagan could read the phone book and people would lap it up - including me.  Reagan was the triumph of style over substance.  Reagan's best lines are pure McDonalds commerical grade mush, like "morning in America."  American rhetoric died a while before Reagan came along.  Hell, Nixon's tortured slurs had more to do with reality than Reagan's empires of good and evil.

    If rhetoric was dead then, it's a damn reanimated zombie now.  My state is governed by a circus strong man who uses recycled gag lines from his expensive B-movies for political rhetoric.
