      Let's put aside all the BS (imminent threat, WMDs, connection with Al Qaeda, spreading freedom and democracy, etc).
      What the illegal and immoral invasion and occupation of Iraq was all about was the acquisition of permanent bases there.
      No matter what Congress decides, this Administration will do everything possible to keep the bases being built (I suspect that keeping these bases is the precise meaning of Victory in Iraq).
      The wishes of Congress just don't count anymore - Congress is seen as no more than an irritant to the imperial administration and is no more than a paper tiger...

        of feigning denial. The proof of it is right here:

        it would provide that no funds be used under this bill to enter into military base agreements between the US and Iraq.

        Doesn't Bush get the money for his war through supplementals anyway?
