The Post's assistant managing editor of their news desk will be online for a discussion at 12 p.m. today at this link:

Might be a good chance to ask how they'll react if he starts spewing Savage-like comments, and also why they're cutting news staff who actually reserach and report stories when they're hiring people like Domenech?

of the printed WaPo is not an editor of WaPo online, which is the entity making the decision to add "Red America."  The online version's editor is Jim Brady.

Thanks for pointing out the distinction.  I'm all for contacting Brady.

That said, I think it's important to contact people in the news-gathering part of the Post too.  Both divisions are part of the same company, and what happens in one part affects what happens in the other.  The Post has used the "different divisions" excuse to justify newsroom cuts at the same time it's hiring people for its online version.  But the online version depends on news from the "print" newsroom, and if more money is spent in one place, it naturally means less in another.

I'm making my dissatisfaction known throughout the company.

is How and Who exactly is the extremely and avowedly partisan Domenech meant to balance anyway?
Certainly not Dan Froomkin, who has repeatedly said he is not a liberal,  but oppositional, He believes the government can and should be held accountable for its actions and pubkic statements, particularly when they don't match up.   It seems to me, this is the proper stance for all journalists.  Domenech on the other hand ,is to put it kindly, an adminstration shill, who promotes thier pre-scripted talking points.

Simply compare and contrast Domenech's Link-free, fact free, entirely self-referential Innagural rant to any of Dan's White House Briefing columns for this week.   The difference is like night and day.  Where Domenech simply states his opinion as fact Froomkin always links to the facts that support his opinion if he expresses one (more usually he links to the opinions of  other commentators and lets you make up your mind)

The only "balance" Domenech adds to the Post is balancing stellar journalism with the lazy and sloppy kind.
