I'll give you the one about "Augustine".  Didn't know that that had been confirmed.  It does make him look like an asshole.

As for the term Islamo-fascist, let's just say that citing Juan Cole on the subject is less than convincing.  There are plenty of people who wish to blur the lines between moderate and radical Muslims, but believe me they don't need the word "Islamo-fascist" to do it.  As for this:

It's inaccurate because fundamentalist religious extremists don't want to impose fascist regimes. They couldn't give a shit about the form of governments, as long as those government impose their perverted views of Islam.

that just totally misses the point.  It's not that these extremists want to impose a certain kind of government.  It's that their values are the same as those of 20th-century fascists.  Militaristic expansionism. A cult of death. Genocidal fantasies. Fanatic obedience to a charismatic leader. A desire to control all aspects of society down to the minute detail.  Intolerance of any dissent or debate.

These guys are fascists who are using Islam as a means to the same end that Germany and Japan wanted in the 1930's. This is not a condemnation of the Islamic religion (or, rather, it shouldn't be), but it is important to name this threat for what it is.  It is not a freeper fantasy.  It's real.

But the nomenclature is less important than the underlying issue.  There are plenty who are happy to imply that all Muslims are enemies.  But there are also those who, due to their acute hypersensitivity to anything that could be deemed "anti-Muslim", strongly imply that there are no (or only a few) Muslims that are enemies.  This is a serious concern.  The estimates are that perhaps 10-15% of the Muslim world is sympathetic to one degree or another to the jihadists.  That's more than 100 million people. That doesn't mean they're all potential suicide bombers.  But it does mean that this is a very big problem.  We're not just talking about a couple of rogues.

Liberals need to spend less time worrying about offending Muslims, who are in many cases likely to be offended by us simply for doing what we always do (witness the Danish cartoon travesty), and more time worrying about the real threats we face.

Mocking Juan Cole's credentials as an expert source on the Middle East just exposed you for what you are:  a bullshit monger at best, an outright freeper wingnut at worst.

      And hey, about this:

It's that their values are the same as those of 20th-century fascists.  Militaristic expansionism. A cult of death. Genocidal fantasies. Fanatic obedience to a charismatic leader. A desire to control all aspects of society down to the minute detail.  Intolerance of any dissent or debate.

Thanks for so completely summing BushCo.
