Comments like this always make me curious, because you don't say "some men", you just say "men".

    Do you mean all men?

I know some who are the exact opposite of what you describe in you comment.  In fact, I know quite a few such men.

So I guess I'm just wondering what you mean.

    •  Of course not all men... (3+ / 0-)

I know that there are decent men out there, but I think that when it really boils down to it, you will find many men who simply walk away.  I have no way to prove that this is a majority or otherwise, but you see it a lot.

I am a believer that when it comes to abortion, men have no place voting on the matter whatsoever, as it is not their body, and not their choice.  Further, if a woman decides to have that child, as is her right, being the holy vessel, a man is fully responsible to it until it can be responsible for itself.

I made the situation easier.  When my wife got pregnant, I married her.

Whatever you think a fetus is at the time of abortion, it certainly grows up to be a real person.  Because of that, I think that men should be afforded a 25% stake in the abortion debate (half of the affected parties of an abortion are the people the fetuses may or may not grow into, half of these people will be men).

As for my own 25% stake?  If I had been conceived 10 years earlier and would have prevented my mother from completing her education and living a pretty damn good life, then I'd support an abortion.

Sure, I wouldn't exist, but I'm sure someone very much like me would, and would have a much better life than the alternative.

While I feel the final decision is the woman's, I would hope that in a loving relationship that the sentiments of the non-childbearing party would factor into the equation.

I refuse to assign a weight to this influence, but our opinion does matter, though I give more credence to a man's support of giving birth to the child rather than against that decision.

    •  I'm not a self-hating male, (7+ / 0-)

but don't have a problem with psalcido's sentiments.
He said, If we had more real men around here...
That implies we do have some real men around here.
      I know I I'm a real man because I own a flashlight. ; )
