  •  Salazar's response to me, as of last week: (1+ / 0-)

Thank you for contacting me regarding Senator Feingold's resolution to censure the President concerning warrantless wiretaps.

I believe that warrantless spying on Americans is extremely serious. I also believe that Congress must insist on collecting all of the facts about any warrantless spying program and thoroughly accounting for precisely what actions were taken by the Administration before considering other action.

Censure of an American president has occurred only once in our history, back in the early days of our Republic, when Andrew Jackson was President.

    Thank you again for writing.

And thank you, Senator, for the fascinating history lesson, you spineless shit!

    •  Yesh, that's not really encouraging is it? (0+ / 0-)

That's the same middle-of-the-road comment I get from Feinstein's office.

These Senators are not supposed to be sinecures - taking money for wishy-washy positions; they are supposed to be deliberate leaders.

This is like treading water, it does no good to trust Pat Roberts; and I don't see why Feinstein and Salazar, among too many others, would play us for fools that this is anything like a reasonable position, unless they actually believe it - are they too in bed with the GOP in Congress to take anything close to a principled stand for American freedom and privacy?  They are failing us.

    •  Change takes time....... (0+ / 0-)

That was a nice letter, at least you got a response and at least you took the time to do something. I congradulate you for that! But don't get discouraged.

heck I have been signing Impeach Bush petitions since he was 'selected' into office, I am still not discouraged and I keep on signing them! What I do see, though, is that more and more people are waking up and signing petitions--that's good!

It takes so much time, but through constant people power efforts of positive reinforcement our government will act.

Good for you in taking the time to do 'something' and double good you shared this here!

sent me a very similar reply too, whereas I got no response from Reid or Mikulski. I appreciated the reply but could it have been any more tepid?
