    A corporation can't spend money from its treasury to influence a federal election.  2 USC 441b.  And a candidate's site must contain disclaimers.

    A campaign doing any spending without disclosing it runs into trouble, which is not to say that there aren't always going to be issues with "friends of the campaign" making independent expenditures.  I think about the "Kerry/Specter for Working Families" roadside signs that Specter's former right-hand man set up a 527 to pay for last year, but even there, because of the necessary filings people were able to trace those responsible.
