    but who leads the party? You? Who decides what should be on the table for discussing? Certainly not us!

    We elect our leaders to lead us, but we don't lead them. That's why we have a republic and not a true democracy, because we'd have no use for leaders if we had a true democracy.

      Can't help you there...I'm unaffiliated and I already have no use for leaders.

      We elect our leaders to lead us, but we don't lead them.  That's why we have a republic and not a true democracy, because we'd have no use for leaders if we had a true democracy.

      I'm not up the fine-grained distinctions (or blurred lines between republic, democracy, democratic republic, etc.  Makes my head hurt.  But it seems to me there might be a good bit of irony in this statement coming from someone who labels themselves as a Democrat (if you do) and not a Republican?
