  •  McCain has never been a maverick, just chameleon (0+ / 0-)

McCain is, and has been, one of the most skilled politicians when it comes to manipulating the media. He has not been a maverick. He simply knows how to play the game very well so he appeared to be rebellious. He was carefully crafting an image that would appeal to voters.

I am constantly amazed at how many people have referred to him as a "moderate". He is a classic conservative who is a very shrewd politician. He's had his eye on the Presidency for over a decade, and has made calculated moves to create the image that many Americans want to see.

I say this as a person who has watched his career for about 15 years now. I have respect for his service to our country and certainly the things he went through as a solider and a POW. I also see him as one of the slickest & slimiest politicians in the Senate.

He is great at appearing like a charming, thoughtful person (even highly entertaining on SNL), but he's a pompous, rude, short-tempered, condescending and snarly a**hole when he doesn't know the cameras are on him.

He is not, and never has been, a moderate.

He is not 'changing' his political views. He's just sucking up to the right wing because he knows he needs them for the nomination.

He has suckered most of the media and much of the public.

I'm not at all surprised by this so-called transformation. He's been appearing like a "maverick" with a wink and a nudge to the right-wing for years. It's just politics, baby.

I remember a time when our President was the leader of the free world. ****** Repeat after me: "Neoconservatism has failed America."
