  •  Do 'the people' care? (7+ / 0-)

Last I checked, "the people" in this country don't care.  When the Ukraine elections were rigged, the people took to the streets.  Yes, we had half a million people in LA protesting an immigration bill but the only way I knew it happened was from reading dKos - nobody was talking about it at work, etc.

The only way that this can be the last straw is if someone does something to make it the last straw, and I don't see that happening.  Call me cynical.  Then again, I also think Chuck Hagel will be our next president because of his ES&S connections.

      Maybe this is the problem:

the only way I knew it happened was from reading dKos

When the Diebold/Blackwell story is plastered over all the major network newscasts night after night maybe you will see people taking to the streets. If these stories aren't on CNN, the reality isn't being validated, and it's still possible for people to deny to themselves that things like this are really happening.

The immigration issue is a bit different, with large numbers of people in personal contact with one another feeling the threat more personally and so having more immediate encouragement to act.
