    I also left out Karamzin, Lermontov, Baratinsky, Tiutchev, Gogol, Mussorgsky, Bulgakov, Blok, Ivanov, Mayakovsky, Pasternak, Akhmatova, Kuzmin, Bunin, Babel, Nabokov, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, etc.

    Chekhov was a huge mistake, though.  I can't believe I missed him!

    Oh, and Queneau, Bizet, Berlioz, Proust, Rabelais, Ionesco, Saint-Exupery (another huge mistake!), Satie, Ravel, Balzac, Montesquieu, Flaubert, Magritte, Perec, Rodin, etc...  aaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh
