Kos:  "So he had an affair. Big deal. On the issue of whether he handled his official duties properly, it appears he did. And really, in situations like these, that's all that should matter."

It is a big deal, a character issue.  Many voters, myself included, will not trust someone who could not remain faithful to their wedded spouse to remain faithful to their constituents.  I am a progressive and a patriot, but I support leaders who I would have my children admire both professionally and personally.  This guy didn't just have an affair, he had an affair with the fiance of a man he was investigating.  You will in no way be able to write this off; it's too slimy, Kos.

Morrison can not win this race now.  On the east or west coast, maybe, but not in Montana, no sir.  Get him out now, and Tester in the ring, ASAP.

    •  No, that's what the GOP's telling you. (4+ / 0-)

It's not what the article says.

It says that he had an affair.  Back in '98 or so.  It lasted, according to the article, for two months.

... Suzanne Harding, who was Tacke's fiance at the time of the investigation,

It was years before her contacting Morrison about Tacke's problems.

Here is the REALLY IMPORTANT PART for voters:

"In the end, John took the action that you hope an elected official would take when they have a conflict of interest,"

Think about your life.  Could you be said to have had an affair with someone who is someone else's spouse?  If you fudged the facts a bit, and ignored the fact that that person wasn't yet involved with or married to that person?

Note that the GOP is trying to protray this as Morrison having an affair (true), and wording it so that it appears that the woman was engaged during the affair.

"I desire what is good. Therefore, everyone who does not agree with me is a traitor." King George III
