  •  Sample Letter (to LOCAL Advertisers) (none / 0)

[can be adapted to fit national advertisers as well]

    Dear [NAME],

I was upset to learn that your company advertises on [CALL LETTERS OF STATION] owned by Sinclair Broadcasting Company, which has made the outrageously partisan decision to REQUIRE its stations to air an anti-Kerry movie called "Stolen Honor" about a week before the November election. Also, I have learned that Sinclair vice president Mark Hyman said, in a statement quoted by the Washington Post, "The networks are acting like Holocaust deniers and pretending [the POWs] don't exist ..." I very much resent ANYONE using the Holocaust to make a point when the subject has nothing even remotely to do with the Holocaust. It is inappropriate. It is objectionable. It is offensive to Jews and non-Jews alike. I hope that you will contact your Sinclair station manager immediately and voice your complaint. The Sinclair matter has been a major topic of conversation on a website that gets as many as ONE MILLION hits a day. And there has been much talk about organizing a boycott of LOCAL ADVERTISERS who continue to support Sinclair's partisan activities. Actions by responsible advertisers are needed now.

    Sincerely yours,
