  •  This is disgusting (4.00 / 4)

Revisionist history, anyone?  I'm writing my email right away.

Oh, and I don't know if anyone else has made this analogy regarding gay marriage, but what do you think of this...

I have compared homosexuality to race, which indicates my belief that gay people are born gay and do not simply choose to "be gay".  My mother believes, as do many Christians, that homosexuality is a choice or a preference.  We never really much common ground in our debate, and we were both unhappy.

So...after discussing it with a friend, we decided that we are going to start comparing homosexuality to Christianity (when talking to those anti-gay Christian folks).  After all, people choose which religion to follow, if any at all.  Does that mean it is ok to persecute them because their religion is different than mine?  Ask any Christian if they think it was ok that the Romans fed them to the lions.  Ask Christians if they think it would be ok to deny a Christian a job or home because of their religion.  Ask a Christian if it would be okay to say they could not enter into a legal contract, bonding 2 people together, simply because of their religion.  I know some will still talk until their face is blue about how it's not the same, but at least you'll have planted an idea.  And then remind them that Jesus is love, not hate.

    •  laughing still -- thank you. (none / 0)

i have nothing against christians.  some of my best friends are christians.  but you know what really bugs me about them?  why do they have to flaunt their christianity in my face?  i mean why do they have to be so public and in-your-face about something they choose to be?  huh?  it just hurts their cause i think when on ash wednesday some of them walk around with dirt smudged on their forehead in the shape of a cross.  why do they have to be so flamboyant?

what really irks me is that they have hijacked our holiday -- easter --- when the easter bunny brings candy and cavities to our kids as he has every year for just about forever -- and decided to "educate" us about how if jesus, their founder, hadn't been killed by the romans that we would not have easter.  but when you challenge them about how jesus coming out of the tomb on easter sunday is just a rip-off of groundhog day(an insult to puxatawny phil, the ground hog) then watch how their "love one another" happiness dissolves into nastiness.

to that i say 'wrong."  equal rights?  i say they want special rights.  yes, special rights.  the hard truth of the matter that christians do not like to admit that christianity can be cured.  yes, you can be cured of christianity.  we all know this is true.  some christians are cured because they seek therapy or counseling.  i know other christians who have stopped being christian because they met the right non-christian.  some of my friends who mused to be christian may lapse back though, but that is usually because they had a few too many drinks or some other drug was involved.

give me 10 christians and i bet every one of them would be non-christian if they could.
