    and still getting the feel of the place.
    But no. The tip jar, from what I've deduced, is a method of getting around the idiotic limitation that one doesn't get points toward "trusted user" status for a really good diary entry. You have to post a tip jar to get points.
    If you post a tip jar for someone else, you look like you are trying to get the diarist's points.

      I think the problem is that you WOULD get the diarists points. It would move your status up but not the person you intended.

        I agree also that it would look creepy if someone did it, but I think we can assume in this case that Monstertron was sincerely wondering how to get points for the diarist, not going after sneaky mojo ;)

        I thought the diary was the best thing I'd read in a while. So good, in fact, that I sacrified a diary of my own to call attention to it. I'd really like to see more by the author and I figured that he needed the tip jar to get the notice and kudos. With the positive reinforcement, maybe we'd get more stuff from a clearlly insightful mind.
        More importantly, though, I'm glad you guys kept me from screwing up the mojo.

        Lots of times Kosmopolitans lemmingly dump 4s into the first diary post, even when it's not from the diarist. (Actually, I've done this myself -- once -- now I'm always careful to recheck the diarist's name and then find their first post in the thread if I want to fourize them.)
