...but I'm not wanting any kind of lefty coalition of Christians to assume leadership of anything, except taking out the Christian-terrorist who would hijack the bible to throw out non-sequitor "moral" nonsense to win elections.

The right has, like normal, used our own goodwill and good nature to remain secular against us. All of us imagined that "the majority of the populace wants to be non-secular too, and that they'll surely see through such red herring morality". Well guess what, like normal, the right managed to pull of the shocking deed. (see my signature on other thoughts of this particular phenomenon)

Now that things are such a mess, we're in the position of having to "prove" that the entire left aren't just a bunch of "heathens" and "devil worshippers" (their language, not mine) and that the right has in fact hijacked the bible...my final goal is to have our secular nation back, but I realize that just saying, "I want it back" is not enough...

As far as the verse from the two greatest commandments - you missed the most important part of what Christ was saying - he said IT - "God is one" and "love your neighbor as youself" - as in, we are ALL part of god (Gays, Atheists, Jews, Muslisms, Christians, Rastafarians, etc) and that we are all to love each other. This is very clear, simple language. There are no exceptions or conditions (he doesn't say that people have to believe anything or show up to any church, anywhere). We're all part of God, and our only job is to love each other (which would mean no discriminaton, killing, etc). There is no way, without distorting things, that anyone can take the two greatest commandments and use them for anything bad...it's very plain language...no conditions...

You just posted on another thread that I was "running from you" because I didn't respond to this.

I didn't see it. Now that I have, I have no comment, because you don't seem to be saying anything comprehensible. Your comment seems orthogonal to mine, and I'm not sure what you are arguing or who you are arguing with, sorry.

...I appreciate your reply back in that we both represent a sounding board for different concerns. I've made a reply to another of your recent comments over here, which I hope will be comprehensible and with any luck, perhaps more agreeable / consensus building to all...
