And the best writer of sex scenes I've read is the incomparable Tim Robbins.
Jitterbug Perfume and Even Cowgirls Get the Blues come immediately to mind.
If you are seeing this and have not read Jitterbug Perfume,Even Cowgirls Get the Blues and Still Life With Woodpecker by Robbins I truly envy you.
What I wouldn't do to have four days with nothing but those three to read for the first time. Please, I have never spoken like this in comment threads, but I know with all my soul you'll cherish those books once you read them.
Robbins knows how to play with sex. Most writers treat it like some sort of commando conquest to multiple orgasms, which doesn't work.

  I started with Still Life, of course, but Jitterbug Perfume is the best fiction this side of Joseph Heller. I highly recommend it.
