There may be some gay people who wish to have have others feel that it is "Too bad they're gay". But damn few, I'd say.
Intolerance is found in strange places. DailyKos isn't a place I'd expext to see this expression.
Way out of line, IMO.

  I think this guy meant he'd like to date one of them, so it's too bad they're gay, because they wouldn't be interested in him. I think it was a compliment, actually. But I can see how it would be misunderstood.
